Sol for iPhone and iPod Touch
This website will be expanded with time.
For now, if you have purchased Sol, or have questions about it, feel free to contact me by email at sol@avalys.net, or by phone at 818-602-4263.
Known Issues
- Hong Kong users: the database has over 1200 locations within Hong Kong in it, but until recently, none with the name "Hong Kong." If you have tried to add Hong Kong to your list of cities and failed, please try again. You can use either "Hong Kong" as your city name, or, for greater accuracy, a more specific location within Hong Kong.
- Please note that the Add Location screen opens with the US State of Alabama selected. Additional US states are below Alabama, in alphabetical order, and all foreign countries are above Alabama. Selecting the country "United States" instead of a particular state will not work unless you are looking for Washington, D.C., or similar stateless locations that are considered part of the US.
- The info button is hard to push. The button's sensitivity zone is too small, and many times the iPhone does not register a touch on the button itself. You may have to push on it a few times before the button activates. This issue has been fixed in version 1.0.1, which will be a free update available on the store as soon as Apple approves it.
- If you launch Sol and immediately delete one of the last cities in the list, without first scrolling to view its clock, Sol may crash. This issue is also fixed in version 1.0.1. Until Apple approves this version for release, you can work around this problem by scrolling to these cities before deleting them. Sorry for the trouble!
- Extraneous spaces in city names entered in the Add Location dialog would interfere with successful lookups. This has been resolved on the server.
